Pre-flight briefing
The whole balloon experience takes about 4 hours. We begin with a briefing for passengers so that everyone knows exactly what is going to take place. The pilot gives a short explanation of how a balloon works with a chance for passengers to ask any questions. Then it’s work time! A chance to help the crew with getting the balloon ready for flight.
During the flight the pilot points out the chief points of interest but again the emphasis is on enjoyment and there is always plenty of laughter in the basket. After a flight of about 60 -70 minutes the pilot starts to look for a possible landing site. Never the same place of course as the wind decides the flight direction. Then it’s hands on the basket and legs apart for the landing. Perhaps the most exciting part of the flight but as our pilots have made hundreds of landings under all conditions – no need for anxiety!
The landing is followed by the traditional champagne christening for the first-time adventurers. The balloon crew monitor the flight with GPS monitors and arrive at the landing within minutes. (Always coincidentally in time for the champagne christening). Passengers are brought back to the original location with jeeps, luxury buses and/or minicabs. Every passenger gets a personal souvenir of the balloon adventure.
